33 Apocalypse Avenue, Thursday Evening

Jack wasn't ready to say goodbye to Kaidan. He remained quite firmly opposed to this general trend of people leaving.

But if Kaidan was going to go fight purple blobby land jellyfish --or whatever he was up to -- he deserved a decent send-off. Which was why Jack had ordered several pizzas, laid in a few kegs of Canadian lager, and sent an email to everyone he could think of who might want one more chance to hang out with Kaidan.

A bad action movie played on the TV, though the sound was quite soft, and everything was ready for a low-key party.

"You look about as happy as I feel," Jack confided softly. "Good to see you, anyhow."

"Same. I'm trying to be happy. I'm not that good at faking it," Allie admitted. "But I'll try harder."

"No, you shouldn't have to," Jack said quickly. "I just meant -- I feel the same way. Happy he's doing something he wants to do, sad for us."

"Exactly," she nodded. "And it's not like I have so many friends that I'm not going to notice when one isn't around. Which, yes, I know, selfish of me but there was a reason I never was willing to let people in before I came here."

"There are a lot more people worth letting in here," Jack said briefly, and glanced over to Kaidan. "It's not goodbye forever. It can't be."

"Not if we have anything to say about it. Portalocity on the other hand...." It was easier to blame Portalocity then think about the fact that Kaidan could potentially be heading into danger.

"I'm on a first name basis with most of their customer service reps now," Allie said with a wry smile. "Daily calls will do that."

"Never stopped trying. Someone needs to keep Sarren from getting to Eden." And Allie had her own, personal reasons for wanting to take him down.

"And you think it should be you," Jack finished, eyebrows rising. "Let me know if it ever works and I'll have a party for you, too. But I hope it's not for a good long time."

Objectively Allie understood Jack's attitude, it didn't mean it was going to change her mind.

"It's not just revenge." That was only half of it, since she could still hear Zeke's dying screams echoing in her head. "He wants to end the world. And with the virus he developed, he's halfway there."
