It was considerate of Portalocity to put the main port to and from London in a dimly lit alcove of a crowded underground station; no one was looking at anyone else, and, even if they were, there'd probably been stranger things to remark upon that morning than two (to all appearances) young men stepping out of a glowing blue doorway to nowhere. Certainly Jack was not going to break his stride to remark on how unusual it was.

He did, though, pause when they were out of the station. "Guidebook first, I think," he ventured. "Seeing as it's been some time since I was here."

[OOC: For Mitchell, unless someone else is in London today.]

Mitchell was thoroughly unamused and wary about the whole situation, but there were many reasons for his rock star reputation back home that he was willing to employ to help Jack out a bit - even if it just meant plying the locals with some random conversation.

It was probably the lack of familiar faces that kept him from becoming too hostile; but half his attention was still on the boy, especially considering the nature of the chit-chat.

"All right," Mitchell said, shooting the couple he'd been talking to a smile that wasn't completely genuine, and excused himself. In his estimation, they were a lot more pretentious than Jack had claimed they were.

Eyes on his back as he retreated back towards the entrance, at that. "If I had a name like that, I'd've rushed down for a deed poll decades ago." Beat. "Maybe centuries."

"If those were names they made up, it's even worse," Mitchell said, with a quick grin as he moved across the bar towards the exit. "My name is my name. Might have to change it in a couple of hundred years, if Mister What is anything to go by." He made an amused noise. "Something with an x in it. All the fashionable aliens have them."

"Dashing, I can manage."

Predictably, Mitchell's fingers were slipping back into his pocket to find his cigarettes, shaking the slightest bit. He paid it no heed. "What did you find?"

Mitchell snorted as he lit his cigarette. "Great luck there, then," he said, shoving his lighter back into his pocket. "Of course it hasn't changed much," he observed, "That would involve breaking tradition."

"I--"

Mitchell's jacket bleeped again, although the noise was different than the last couple of times.

"Oh god," he said, "We're down to voicemails. I think that's a sign that says yes."

"I'm going to mock him until he cries," Mitchell announced - a fact which he seemed too upbeat about, and certainly settled some of the jitters as he took a drag off of his cigarette. "Back to the Mermaid!"
