Room 308, Saturday Night

Jack's day had been very full, between detention, a movie with Emma, and ... other entertainment with Andy. After his roommate (and his green "friend") left, he laid on his bed with the door closed, not really thinking, just staring into space.

Either the paint swirls were more fascinating than he had ever noticed, or he was still a little baked.

"God, no wonder they bite people with names like that," Rose said, making a horrified face.

"Yes, well, they liked their names," Jack said, trying not to giggle. "They were handed down for generations. They were rather snobbish about it, actually."

"Oh. Of course," Rose said, wide-eyed and on the verge of cracking up. "Who wouldn't be? Now that you mention it, I wish I was named Leopold."

"Well, of course you do. It's a shame your parents didn't think of it," Jack said, without missing a beat. "Anyhow, so August, Leopold, and ... I already forget the third one were packing for a treacherous journey through the ducts of the school, when they found ... I need another cookie."

It gave him time to work out what they found.

Totally giggling now, Rose held the cookies out of reach. "Tell me what they found first," she teased.

"They found a magic watch," Jack decided. "And they turned the second hand around, and, all of a sudden, they weren't gremlins anymore. They were people. May I have a cookie, Miss Hathaway?"

"Gremlins are people too?" She teased. "Is this a lesson of love and tolerance?"

But she gave him the cookies back. "Ew, I'm so not a Miss Hathaway," Rose said lightly.

"Of course not," Jack said, as if offended by the very suggestion. "They decided to use their human forms to hit each other over the head and go nyuk-nyuk-nyuk, like those comedians. They banged each other about quite a bit."

He took some more crackers.

"They should come to Fight Club," Rose teased. She was kinda curious just how much he was going to be able to eat. "They'd get plenty of beating up there."

"As a matter of fact,that's exactly what they did, since luckily it was a Sunday," Jack said. "Leopold fought the one whose name I forgot, and August fought Professor Atreides, and then the club found out they were really gremlins. And everyone came together to pound them into a pulp."

"I wouldn't wanna fight Professor Atreides," Rose admitted. She clapped her hands together. "It IS a heart-warming tale of tolerance and teamwork!"

"If you ignore that the gremlins ended up bloody messes," Jack laughed. "But what would a bedtime story be without a good moral?"

"They probably deserved it," Rose said darkly. "Cause they bit people and ran away laughing about. So that just adds to the moral."

"It does," Jack agreed. "So the good triumphed and evil was punished. And now I'm going to sleep."

"Good note to go on," Rose teased, closing the bag of cookies and shifting them over to the desk. "Should I say sweet dreams?"

"No, you should join me and put out the light," Jack said, trying for suave and missing it. "Then we'll make sweet dreams."

He was so lucky Rose liked him. Cause while it meant he'd still get mocked for that, she'd also totally forgive him for being a dork.

"Such a gentleman," she teased, going to flip the lightswitch then slipping back into the bed. "Making me turn off your light.". Not that she was a lady but shh.

"You see better in the dark than I do," he answered, and curled onto his side to give her room.

"And it'd be silly for you to break your nose tripping in the dark," Rose agreed, leaning up to kiss the tip of his nose teasingly.
