Kaidan had precious little idea exactly where Jack went on the full moon. Some kind of locked-off basement, he presumed, or something similar to it; the thought honestly hadn't crossed his mind that they couldn't have set up kinetic barriers of some kind, because that was just how this stuff worked.

He was up now, doing what he usually did this time of the month: roaming around the house sipping from a bottle of beer and brooding letting his mind wander off.

Lonely days. Sometimes you couldn't avoid wallowing.

... for now, anyway.

Jack Priest
Wallowing would not remain his biggest problem for very long.

Jack hadn't known quite where he was going when he broke out of Derek's basement; at first, it was just thrilling to run. But eventually he began following a very specific path. He was retracing his own scent trail.

He was going home.

A werewolf on a mission could break through a wooden door like so much paper. Jack did, and was soon in the living room. He glanced around, then let out a low growl.

His territory.

Kaidan Alenko
"What the--"

Carefully trained instincts kicked in immediately-- Kaidan dove behind cover and reached for his sidearm, collapsing the gun into full readiness.

Then he took a look over the top of the couch to determine the nature of the assailant. "Jesus," he breathed. Wolf. Giant wolf. Giant-- "Jack?!"

Excuse him for taking a moment.

Jack Priest
Jack sat back on his haunches, seeming distracted by the use of his name. He growled again, lips curling back to reveal a set of very white, very sharp, teeth.

He wouldn't attack. Yet.

Kaidan Alenko
Kaidan slowly rose up from behind the couch -- because what use was a single piece of furniture going to be to shield him from a werewolf? "Calm down," he tried.

Jack Priest
Apparently that was not the magic word.

Jack sprang up and onto the couch, angling his muzzle so he was in prime position to get a good, long whiff of Kadan. His front paws struck at the gun, as if trying to knock it away.

Kaidan Alenko
Sadly for the wolf, Kaidan wasn't going to stand around while a wild animal hurled himself at him.

He dropped his gun to the floor - because he wasn't going to need it here, he wasn't going to shoot Jack - freeing his hands up. An electrical charge shot through the nodules of element zero buried deeply in his body; in one instant, he was glowing blue, in the next...

There was a brilliant burst of light, and gravity around the wolf found itself taking a sudden dive towards zero.

Jack Priest
The wolf had never floated before. He didn't like it and was unlikely to pursue it as a future hobby.

He scrabbled for purchase with all four sets of claws, then snapped his jaws fruitlessly at thin air. Eventually, he settled into some puppylike whining.

Kaidan Alenko
"Sorry about that, Jack," Kaidan said, his eyes flicking down to the omni-tool he'd just activated.

He couldn't sustain the lift effect forever - he'd have to rig up some kinetic barriers for... well, for the night, most likely.

Derek Hale
Which would be when a much more man shaped wolf came barging on into the place. And promptly stared in confusion up at the floating form of Jack. That was a new one.

Jack Priest
Derek's appearance set Jack off on a fresh frenzy of growling and trying to lunge out of his invisible bonds. He wouldn't tolerate another wolf in his den.

Kaidan Alenko
"Derek," Kaidan said evenly. "Misplaced something?"

He'd ignore poor floating Jack in his orange kinetic barrier cell for the moment.

Derek Hale
Derek huffed in annoyance, features smoothing back to human again. At least Jack was contained. "Something like that."

They were just going to need to build a cage for him then. If the mountain ash didnt work.

Jack Priest
They would need a cage. Because if they ever let Jack down and gave him half a chance, he was going to eat both of their stupid heads.

For now, he contented himself with a low howl.

Kaidan Alenko
The bright blue glow surrounding Kaidan was starting to dim. The lift effect wouldn't last much longer-- he just hoped the barrier he'd set up contained enough space. Didn't need Jack injuring himself.

Kaidan crossed his arms. "You don't look like he does," he said mildly. "Can't handle him?"

He usually didn't really like knowing he could overpower everyone in a room with him. Right now? It was useful.

Derek Hale
"Different strain," Derek settled on, eyes back on Jack as though to stare him down. No comment about the difference in abilities or keeping of full mental capacities needed. "Take him outside."

And they would settle this like men upon a field of combat. Or, you know, fight like rabid animals until one was dominant. Preferably Derek in this instance.

Jack Priest
Jack had been following more of this than was necessarily obvious, and he stopped making such a racket at that suggestion as he hoped Kaidan would comply.

Outside. Outside was where he could run. If he couldn't eat any heads (and something in him wasn't entirely fond of the idea, anyhow) running would be good.

Kaidan Alenko
"And you're going to do what with him, exactly?" Kaidan said, raising an eyebrow.

Derek Hale
"Take him back to the house." However that took to accomplish.

DEREK, PUNCHING THINGS ISN'T ALWAYS THE SOLUTION.

Kaidan Alenko
"So you can first risk everyone on the street, and then he can break out again?"

Have Kaidan's dubious face.

Derek Hale
"A new method of containment," Derek ground out. "It should have worked on him, but it didn't. He'll be chained up this moon instead."

Jack Priest
The wolf snapped back into action at that, gums peeling away to reveal sharp teeth as he growled again.

Jack did not want to be chained.

Kaidan Alenko
"You're using chains?" Kaidan asked incredulously. "What, did you come here from medieval times?"

There had to be some kind of animal cruelty law against that.

Derek Hale
"An uncontrolled werewolf will kill anything it can find on a full moon," Derek replied, giving him an annoyed look. "Ropes break, we don't have time to build a sturdy enough cage."

Kaidan Alenko
Kaidan jerked one thumb back at the barrier he'd put up around Jack. "You've had how long?" he said. "Chains. Jesus Christ."

Derek Hale
"I'm sorry, did you become an expert on lycanthropy this past week?" Because Derek totally was one. Totally. And he was also an expert on helping the situation become worse.

Kaidan Alenko
"How old are you?" Kaidan asked. "Because I'm starting to be unsure whether you're a criminal or a fifteen-year-old. The barrier's holding Jack for now. No chains required."

Seriously, Derek. Seriously.

"What were you even doing?"

Derek Hale
His posture changed from aggressive, to kicked puppy, back to aggressive again almost to fast to catch. Because, really now. He didn't have any clue what he was doing. That much was painfully obvious to anyone with a brain. "Keeping him alive," Derek snapped, not willing to back down now. "If you could have helped him all this time, why wouldn't you have offered?"

Kaidan Alenko
"Because I thought he had it under control, and I'm not about to micro-manage his condition," Kaidan retorted.

Jack Priest
While the men were squabbling -- and having two attractive men fight over you was always flattering, though Jack would have been more appreciative of it in other circumstances -- Jack had been patrolling every inch of his makeshift kinetic cage. Testing it, he launched himself from one end to the other.

He bounced off rather painfully, slumping to the floor in a pile of fur and teeth, and clicked his claws against the floor impatiently.

Edited at 2012-12-19 04:48 pm (local)

Derek Hale
"We're working on it," Derek replied, eyes going back to Jack. "It's not a condition either."

Kaidan Alenko
"Well, it's not exactly a lifestyle choice," Kaidan said, throwing a look Jack's way himself to make sure the barrier was holding. "Look, I can set up a stronger barrier somewhere in the house, or you can come up with a sane plan to move him."

Derek Hale
"Then just do it."

Kaidan Alenko
"I'm going upstairs and setting up a barrier generator," Kaidan said, taking a step back. "Keep an eye on him. If the barrier gives out, yell."

Derek Hale
"Don't think there'll be time for that," Derek muttered, giving Jack a look.

Kaidan Alenko
"It'll shift colors before it breaks down," Kaidan called, from halfway to the stairs.

Jack Priest
Jack eyed Derek with some contempt, then returned to his project of ramming his head into one specific point on the barrier again and again. Sooner or later, it had to give way.

Edited at 2012-12-26 11:16 am (local)

Derek Hale
"Now is really not the time for this," Derek snapped, claws growing on the ends of his fingers just in case. Better prepared than... mauled.

Again.

Jack Priest
So when would be the time, Derek? If not now, when?

Jack snarled lazily, rammed at the barrier one more time, and burst through. He ran full-speed toward the door.

Derek Hale
Derek snarled right on back, probably less threatening as it only became the appropriate vocal cords for it midway through. He placed himself between Jack and the door, hands out to catch the wolf before it could escape.

Jack Priest
The wolf all but ran smack into Derek and looked vaguely dazed for an instant; breaking through the barrier had taken quite a bit of his strength, and crashing into someone snarling at him didn't help.

He'd be ready to fight again in a moment, but right then all he could manage was a few attempted nips.

Derek Hale
Derek held fast, keeping more vulnerable areas turned away from the teeth. Just in case.

"Remember your anchor," he gritted out. "Come on, Jack."

Kaidan Alenko
Kaidan was halfway into "Okay, I think we can move him now--" when he got into visual range and promptly stopped talking.

Skin crackling with tiny sparks of energy, he moved promptly, smacking Jack upside the head with another Lift field. And okay, its range was a little more than the size of an adult wolf - but it wasn't going to hurt Derek if he got caught in it, too.

Derek Hale
No, but it was pretty embarrassing. He couldn't even do a dramatic flip to get out of it! "Little warning next time," he ground out. Floating. Ugh.

Kaidan Alenko
"I could've just let Jack maul you," Kaidan said lightly, but he wasn't wasting too much time on Derek.

He yanked Jack to the stairs with a firm pull and backed up into the hallway.

Jack Priest
Anchor ... that word meant something, and Jack writhed a bit inside his floating bubble as he settled.

He curled his tail around his folded legs and whined softly as he floated toward his destination.

Kaidan Alenko
Kaidan pushed him into the nearest room - sorry, Ronan, but he couldn't keep this up forever - killing the field downstairs in the process - you're welcome, Derek.

He squatted down by the entrance of the room, punching the controls on his omni-tool. The emitters kicked in a moment later, projecting a much stronger barrier against the window and against the doorway.

It had a pleasant orange hue.

"I'll see you in the morning."

[[But what she CAN offer is post-moon comfort food or something. Or she could if she knew he was a werewolf. Which actually I don't think she does! WHATEVER, THERE CAN BE COMFORT FOOD FOR OTHER REASONS.

AWWWW ADORBABLE CANINE FRIENDS. All you need to do is squish Tyler Posey in there too and you will have THREE PUPPIES IN ONE PICTURE. OMG.]]
