Jack and Emma had their picnic, after which Emma scurried off to finish packing and Jack went back to watch the hands on the clock slowly inch around. Finally, he shut down the law office, locked the door behind him, and went off to the Italian restaurant to find Emma one last time before they went their separate ways.
"We don't do this often," he said, when he found her. "Not proper dates, anyhow."
He wished they had.
